Installing Drive Plate for VW Golf Mk1 4-Cyl Carburetor Engine

4 cyl. carburetor engine, mechanics (1.5, 1.6 and 1.8 litre engine)
Dismantling and assembling cylinder block, crankshaft and flywheel

Note drive plate version
 
V13-0146

→ Old version

  • ‒ Install drive plate with thick washer -1- and new bolts. Chamfer on washer must be towards drive plate.
  • ‒ Tightening torque 30 Nm
 
V13-0042
  • ‒ → Measure dimension -a- in three places and calculate average.
         Specification: 31.3 ± 0.7 mm
  • ‒ If necessary install shim -2-.
  • ‒ Tighten bolts to 60 Nm and then turn a further 90°(1/4turn)
 
V13-1313

→ New version

  • ‒ Install drive plate with thick washer -2- and thin washer/shim -1- and new bolts.
  • ‒ Tightening torque 30 Nm.
 
V13-1244
  • ‒ → Measure dimension -a- in three places and calculate average.
         Specification: 31.3 ±0.7 mm
  • ‒ If necessary change thick washer -2- for another.
  • ‒ Tighten bolts to 60 Nm and then turn further 90°(1/4turn).
