Removing and installing fuel system components
Retrotitting adapter plate for fuel pump relay (engine code: EG > 7/82)

→ Current drop at contact pin -8- in compartment -A- on relay plate can result in fuel pump not being switched on.

In this case, fuel pump relay -J17- should be installed outside relay plate on supplementary adapter plate -Part No. 171 971 761 B- as follows:

  • Remove earth strap from battery.

  • ‒ → Remove fuel pump relay plate
         Position L
  • ‒ Fit fuel pump relay onto adapter and secure to relay plate.
  • ‒ Attach plug from adapter plate to relay plate
         Position L
  • ‒ Pull wire (black/green - 1.5 mm2) from adaptor -T- and insert wire (red/yellow - 1.5 mm2) from adaptor plate into vacant slot in connector -T-.
  • ‒ Connect strap to battery.
