(Fuel pumps are not activated during starting).

Note:

This test for use with Engine Code EG ▸ 7/79 with contact breaker ignition. With this engine, testing should be done with reference to Current Flow Diagram.

  • ◆ Fuse OK.
    ▸7/82 Fuse and fuel pump relay -J17-
    8/82 ▸ Fuse No. 5.
  • ‒ Press wire clip to remove connector at Hall sender (distributor).
  • ‒ Remove fuse boos/relay plate cover.
  • ‒ Remove fuel pump relay from position No. 2.
  • ‒ Switch on ignition

V25-0616
  • ‒ → Using multimeter V.A.G 1526 and wires from V.A.G 1594 measure voltage between following contacts:
    • ‒ Between contact 2 and earth (-)
    • ‒ Between contact 2 and 1
    • ‒ Between contact 4 and 1
  •      Specified value: approx. battery voltage

Where indicated, use Current Flow Diagram to find and eliminate open circuit.

  • ‒ Connect multimeter between contacts 1 and 5 with attachment wire.
         Specified value: approx. battery voltage.
  • ‒ Briefly touch central lead of distributor connector to earth. The voltage indicated should drop briefly.

Voltage drops:

  • ‒ Renew fuel pump relay/check Hall sender:

=> Repair Group 28

Voltage does not drops:

  • ‒ Check TCI H switch unit:

=> Repair Group 28

Where indicated, use Current Flow Diagram to locate and eliminate fault in wiring:

=> Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
