• ● Minimum engine oil temperature 60 °C.

Note:

If engine is difficult to start or misfires, pull connectors off DIS switch unit, join them together and start engine.

If this eliminates the trouble, check that contact pin and sleeves of both connectors are correctly located. They must not be damaged or pushed back.

Otherwise the DIS switch unit must be renewed.

• ‒ With ignition switched off connect ignition timing and engine speed tester V.A.G 1367.
• ‒ If necessary use an aux. terminal to connect to terminal 1 of the coil.

• ‒ Apply hand brake filmy.

• ‒ Star engine and accelerate briefly.
• ‒ Let engine idle, (speed below 1000 rpm), read off and note the ignition timing.
• ‒ Apply footbrake.
• ‒ Engage 4th gear and engage clutch very slowly.

• As the speed drops to below 940 rpm the ignition timing must move in - advance - direction.

Otherwise a new DIS switch unit must be fitted.
