  • ‒ → Connect remote control V.A.G 1348/3A:
    • ‒ Pull plug -2- off warm-up valve -1- and connect to remote control plug -3-.
    • ‒ Connect clip-on terminal -4- to battery(+).
  • ‒ Pull injectors out of seats and insert them in the openings of the measuring appliance V.A.G 1348/2B. Route fuel pipes free of kinks unclip pipes as necessary.

  • ‒ → Turn screw -1-, slide -2-, and knurled nut -4- of adjusting appliance V.A.G 1348/1A into the upper end position and place adjusting appliance centrally on rim of air flow meter.
  • The pointer -3- on the adjusting appliance must point towards the fuel metering distributor.
  • ‒ Hold air flow meter plate in rest position by hand.
  • ‒ Push slide -2- in as far as it will go.
  • ‒ Turn adjusting screw -1- in until the magnet at the end contacts the securing screw of air flow meter plate.
  • ‒ Operate remote control switch and turn adjusting screw -1- out until one of the injectors start to spray fuel.
  • ‒ Empty the measuring appliance (injectors can be left in position).

Idling measurement:

  • ‒ → Pull slide -2- of adjusting appliance to the first detent position.
  • ‒ Operate remote control until the fuel level on scale of one measuring glass reaches:
         20 ml
  • ‒ The injectors must produce a cone shaped spray. If an injector does not produce a cone shaped spray, lift the meter plate briefly once and repeat check.
  • ‒ Compare the amounts of fuel delivered by the injectors hold measuring appliance horizontal).

Permissible variation between all injectors:
     0.3 ml maximum.

  • ‒ If the variation is greater, the injectors which inject the larges and smallest quantities must be interchanged.
  • ‒ Repeat injection delivery rate check.
  • ‒ If one injector still give the same variation in injection rate being changed round, this injector is defective and must be renewed.
  • ‒ If the variation in the injection rate still occurs at the same cylinder this means that either the injector pipe is defective (restricted) or the fuel metering distributor is defective.

Full throttle measurement

  • ‒ Before the throttle measurement is done, the measuring appliance must be emptied.
  • The injectors can remain in position.

  • ‒ → Pull slide -2- of the adjusting appliance into the second detent position.
  • ‒ Carry out the test as for the idling measurement but:
    • ‒ Operate the remote control until
           80 ml of fuel
  • is reached on scale of one measuring glass.
    • ‒ Maximum permissible variation between all injectors:
           max. 8.0 ml.

Checking for leaks

  • ‒ Move air flow meter plate to rest position.
  • ‒ Operate remote control for approx. 2 minutes.
         The injectors most not drip.
