  • Cover
    • ◆ Pull off by hand
  • 50 Nm
  • Steering wheel
    • ◆ Install with steering in centre position, tongue of cancelling ring points to left
  • Spacer sleeve
    • ◆ After fitting column switch, drive sleeve on to column until distance from end of sleeve to end of column is 41.5 mm
    • ◆ This sets the gap between steering wheel hub and switch (2 - 4 mm) => Fig. 1
    • ◆ To remove, lever out with screwdriver.
  • Column bearing
    • ◆ Press in =>Fig. 2

  • 25 Nm
  • Universal joint shaft
    • ◆ To remove and install, detach box from body and shift linkage from box, the pull box off studs
    • ◆ Marking => Fig. 3
    • ◆ Installing => Fig. 4
  • 25 Nm
  • Bellows for shaft
  • Spring
  • Cap for spring
  • 20 Nm
    • ◆ To remove, take off column switch cover
  • Column tube with pedal bracket
    • ◆ To remove, detach brake pedal push rod and clutch cable.
    • ◆ After installing, adjust clutch play,

  • Steering column
    • ◆ Before removing, remove switch for turn signals and windscreen wiper.
  • 10 Nm
    • ◆ Lever off spacer sleeve, remove column switch
  • Steering column switch
    • ◆ Pull out until it contacts the spacer sleeve => Fig. 1

Note

  • ◆ Before removing any electrical components, disconnect the battery earthing strap.
  • ◆ When installing the steering gear, it is advisable to assemble column tube, column, universal jointed shaft and column switch beforehand and then fit the complete assembly in the vehicle =>Figs. 1 and 2.
