From August 1988, steering wheels with modified inner splines are being gradually introduced. The fine splines make improved adjustment of the steering wheel possible. The steering column remains unchanged. A short, multi-splined adapter sleve is fitted onto the steering column splines.

•     → 1 -    Washer (3 mm thick), Part No: N 904 485.01
•     2 -    Multi-splined adapter sleeve, Part No.191 419 514 A
•     3 -    Spacer sleeve
•     4 -    Suppaort ring

If a new steering wheel is fitted to a vehicle of earlier manufacture, the short multi-splined adapter sleeve and a new washer must be fitted.

Repair instrution:

Fitting multi-splined adapter sleeve

→ Place the "sleeve" onto the steering column and pull down with the nut to the end of the thread. Remove nut, fit new washer and once again pull the sleeve down with the nut until a tight seat is attained.

Removing multi-splined adapter sleeve

→ Only use a puller with clamp (e.g. kukko 204-2).
