Connecting fault readerV.A.G 1551 and selecting function (reading out control unit version)
Connecting fault reader -V.A.G 1551- and selecting function (reading out control unit version)
Test prerequisites:
l  All fuses according to current flow diagram OK.
l  Battery voltage at least 9 V.
   
–  Remove ashtray and push cover for diagnostic connector to the left -arrow-.
–  With ignition switched off, connect fault reader -V.A.G 1551- with the diagnostic cable -V.A.G 1551/3-.

t  Display will show the actual software version installed (will be shown briefly in display)

           If the display remains blank, check voltage supply for fault reader -V.A.G 1551- according to current flow diagram  → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.

           Depending on the program, additional operating instructions can be printed out by pressing the HELP key on fault reader -V.A.G 1551-.
t 
           The → key is used for advancing the programme sequence.
t 
           The PRINT key is used for switching on the printer (warning lamp in key lights up).
