Removing

  • ‒ Open slave cylinder bleed valve and connect bleeder bottle from brake filling and bleeding unit V.A.G 1238 B.
  • ‒ Removing over-centre spring .
  • ‒ Separate clutch pedal from master cylinder => Page 30-16 and push operating rod towards engine compartment onto stop.
  • ‒ → Remove clutch pedal securing clip from pivot pin, by levering tab in direction of arrow -1- with a screwdriver then pushing off in direction of arrow -2-.

  • ‒ → Take brake pedal side pivot pin securing clip off towards switch panel (direction of arrow) by locating a screwdriver under the retaining clip -A-.
  • ‒ Pull clutch and brake pedal pivot pin out to the right, until the clutch pedal can be removed.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:

Ensure the clutch/brake pedal pivot pin flats -B- are vertical before installing brake pedal side securing clip.

  • ‒ Engaging clutch pedal with master cylinder operating rod master cylinder => Page 30-19 .
  • ‒ Fill brake fluid reservoir up to "max" marking with brake fluid.

Note:

The clutch system must be bled if the fluid level has dropped below the "min." mark => Page30-20 .
