Servicing clutch control
Removing and installing over-centre spring

Removing

  • ‒ Remove driver's side lower cover

=> Repair group 70; removing and installing dash panel

  • ‒ Remove cover below pedal cluster - foam rubber section remains in vehicle.

  • ‒ Unhook relay plate from left retainer.
  • ‒ → Remove protection plate between relay plate and pedal cluster as follows:
    • ‒ Unclip electrical wiring from retainers (arrow 1).
    • ‒ Press clips (arrow 2) towards pedal cluster.
    • ‒ Push protection plate towards dash panel (arrow 3) until it can be removed from its mounting.
    • ‒ Take protection plate out downwards.

Note:

Do not damage electrical wiring.

  • ‒ Guide a screwdriver between steering column and clutch pedal and place on over-centre spring.
  • ‒ → Operate clutch pedal and lever over-centre spring off pedal in direction of arrow.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:

  • ‒ When inserting over-centre spring locate the relay plate in its left mounting.
  • ‒ Pull clutch pedal into passenger compartment.

  • ‒ → Guide over-centre spring between clutch pedal and mounting/relay plate so that it is positioned in its mounting in the mounting bracket (arrow 1) and directly under the clutch pedal mounting lug (arrow 2).
  • ‒ Press over-centre spring onto mounting lug, thereby operating clutch pedal.
