When making repairs to the clutch, take care not to damage ball valve -arrow-.
   
1 - Retaining ring
q   Different thicknesses
q   Mark after removing and insert at same point
2 - Pressure plate
q   Install with stepped side facing retaining ring
3 - Inner plate
q   Quantity → Chapter
4 - Outer plate
q   Quantity → Chapter
5 - Pressure plate
q   Rounded side faces corrugated ring
6 - Corrugated ring
q   Insert rounded side in pressure plate
7 - Retaining ring
q   Removing and installing → Fig.
8 - Spring support ring
9 - Springs
q   Set on spring support ring
10 - Spring support cup
11 - Retaining ring
q   Must be fitted in groove in clutch housing
12 - Ring tension spring
q   Convex side faces piston
13 - Piston
q   Sealing lips are vulcanised to piston
q   Moisten lips of seals with ATF before installing
q   Turn piston slightly when installing
14 - Clutch housing with pump shaft
15 - Piston ring
q   Renew only defective piston rings
q   Will be destroyed when removed
q   Check for proper seating → Fig.
q   Fitting → Fig.
16 - Piston ring
q   Check for proper seating → Fig.
q   Fitting → Fig.
17 - Piston ring
q   Check for proper seating → Fig.
q   Fitting → Fig.

   
Removing and installing retaining ring -arrow-

Checking seating of piston rings
–  Ensure that ends of piston rings are hooked together.
  N38-0016
Fitting piston ring and hooking ends together
–  Place piston ring in groove.
–  To hook ends together, press sides of ring in and guide ends over one another.
–  Do not twist one side of piston ring out of groove.
