From vehicle identity number 1H Z SW 514 432 (May '95) the Golf Estate was produced with a modified rear axle. Will be introduced gradually.

The position of V profile to longitudinal member is turned approx. 15°.

  • →     1 -    V profile
    • The centre of V profile -arrow- is turned approx. 15°from centre of longitudinal member -3-.
    • Supplied pre-assembled with spring for brake pressure regulator -4- and mounting bracket -5-.

  •     4 -    Spring for brake pressure regulator adapted to suit modified V profile position
  •     5 -    Mounting bracket
    • bolted to correct fitting position V profile (axle carrier)

After current rear axle stocks have been exhausted only rear axles with offset V profiles will be delivered as spare parts. For vehicles up to July '94 the following parts must also be used.

Note:

Will be introduced gradually. During the period May '95 to August '95 vehicles will be produced which have either an offset V profile rear axle or a non offset V profile rear axle.

If a rear axle has to be replaced on a vehicle that as standard was fitted with a rear axle with an offset V profile then the vehicle retainers, clips and brake pipes can be reused.
