Removing

 
N42-0024
  • ‒ Pull luggage compartment cover out to the rear.
  • ‒ → Fold up wheel housing trim at the perforated area (arrow). If necessary cut free with a knife.
  •     1 -    Screwdriver
  • ‒ Remove upper shock absorber nuts.
  • ‒ Remove wheel.
  • ‒ Detach shock absorber from rear axle.
  • ‒ Pull out shock absorber bolt and remove suspension strut.

Installing

 
N42-0036
  • ‒ Attach shock absorber loosely to trailing arm.
  • ‒ → Tighten shock absorber to trailing arm at an angle of approx. 95°.
  •     1 -    Imaginary line along the spring
  •     2 -    Spring with shock absorber
  •     3 -    Imaginary line on the rear axle trailing arm
  •     4 -    Rear axle fulcrum point in mounting
  •     5 -    Trailing arm
  • ‒ Fit wheel.

  • ‒ Lower vehicle and guide shock absorber into mounting on body.
  • ‒ → Tighten shock absorber upper nuts.
  •     1 -    V. A. G 1331
