Repairing TRW power-assisted steering > < Checking and/or adjusting left-hand track rod length

Installing boot
Installing boot
–  Check boot for wear (slits, tears) and check boot sealing surfaces for cleanliness.
   
–  Install bellows. First turn track rod so that shank of track rod ball joint is in installation position.
–  Install pressure balancing pipe.
  Note
t  Do not damage adhesive foil -A- when pushing the bellows on (only for TRW power steering boxes).
t  Ensure bellows and pressure equalising pipe are correctly installed.
t  Only use genuine clamps -B-.

–  Tension hose clip with pliers -V.A.G 1275-.

Take care not the twist the boot on installation (illustration shows incorrect installation).
