  • ◆ The adjustment is only required when the steering play is not correct.
  • ◆ Two Mechanics are required when adjusting. Adjust with engine switched off.
  • ◆ The work sequence is identical on left and right-hand drive vehicles.

  • ‒ Raise vehicle on hoist.
  • ‒ Wheels in straight-ahead position.

By turning the steering wheel to and fro (about 30°to centre axis) a knocking noise will be heard if there is excessive play.

  • ‒ Loosen locking nut to do this counter-hold with 3315/9.
  • ‒ Carefully screw the adjustment screw until the knocking noise can no longer be heard inside the vehicle.
  • ‒ Tighten locking nut.
  • ‒ Complete a road test ensuring that when manoeuvring or negotiating corners the steering self-centres without sticking.
