Executing self diagnosis
Fault table
Notes on fault table
-
◆ All the possible faults which can be recognised by the ABS control unit (J104) and printed-out on V.A.G 1551, are listed on the following pages according to the 5 digit fault code.
-
◆ Fault code and flash code appear (in the "Rapid data transfer" mode) only on the print-out.

Example:

-
◆ Additionally the type of fault can also appear in the fault table.
-
◆ Reference is made to individual test steps of the Electrical test in the column "Rectifying fault".
-
◆ Before replacing components indicated as being faulty, check all the appropriate connectors, wiring and earth connections using the current flow diagram.
-
◆ After carrying out repairs, always interrogate and erase the fault memory with fault reader V.A.G 1551, also carry out a road test (exceeding a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph).
-
◆ Repeat the self-diagnosis after the road test.

No fault recognised
If "No fault recognised" appears after carrying out repairs, self diagnosis is ended.
If, despite "No fault recognised" appearing the display, the ABS system does not operate properly, then proceed as follows:
1. Carry out road test exceeding 40 km/h,
2. Again interrogate fault memory, if there is still no fault stored,
3. Commence fault finding without self diagnosis and work through the complete
Electrical test
