Topping up ATF > < Checking ATF level and topping up

Checking ATF level
Checking → ATF level
   
–  Switch off engine.
  N34-10476
The → ATF temperature should not be more than approx. 30° C at the start of the test.
l  Gearbox not in emergency running mode; ATF temperature not above approx. 30° C
l  Vehicle must be standing level
l  Selector lever in “P”.
–  Connect “tester” and continue switching until it is ready for operation → Chapter.
–  Press Guided functions.
–  Then select vehicle, the gearbox and Check ATF level.
–  Press →.
–  Start engine.
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- or drip tray under gearbox.
–  Press →.
If a test temperature between 35° C and 45° C is displayed:
  N01-0453
–  Remove ATF inspection plug from pan -arrow-.
  N37-0189
The ATF present in the overflow pipe runs out.
If ATF drips out of drilling:
ATF does not need topping up.
–  Fit new seal to plug and tighten to 15 Nm. This completes the ATF check.
If no ATF drips out of inspection hole:
–  Top up ATF → Chapter.
