t  Fault reader -V.A.G 1551-
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-
t  Diagnostic cable -V.A.G 1551/3C-
Test procedure
–  Connect fault reader -V.A.G 1551- or vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-. Start engine and select engine control unit with “address word” 01. Connect fault reader and select engine control unit → Rep. Gr.01.
   
Indicated on display:
–  Press buttons 0 and 8 for function “Read measured value block” and confirm entry with Q button.

Indicated on display:
–  Press buttons 1, 3 and 0 for “Display group number 130” and confirm entry with Q button.

Indicated on display: (1...4 = display zones)
–  Read result of system test in display zone 4. Specification: “Syst. OK”
  Note
The system plausibility is tested. Therefore “Syst. OK” can be displayed even though there is an electrical fault with the system.
–  Read coolant temperature sender values in display zones 1 and 2. Specification: the coolant temperature at the engine outlet (display zone 1) must always be higher than the coolant temperature at the radiator outlet (display zone 2).
–  Change to display group 132 as follows:
Press button 3 twice on fault reader -V.A.G 1551-.
Press button twice on vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-.
–  Allow engine to continue to run at idling speed and observe right bit in display zone 4, specification: “0”.
If a “1” is displayed:
–  Read fault memory: → Rep. Gr.01.
  Note
If there is a fault with the coolant temperature sender -G62- or radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83- or wiring connections or radiator fan output stages the engine control unit will activate the radiator fan speeds.
–  Evaluate the remaining bits in display zone 4 of display group 132: → Rep. Gr.01.
–  Press the button.
–  Press buttons 0 and 6 for function “End output” and confirm entry with Q button.
