Installing
Greasing bonded rubber bushes
–  Before installing rear axle, grease kidney-shaped cavities of bonded rubber bushes with assembly paste G 052 150 A2.
If the rear axle is installed “dry”, noises may develop when the vehicle is driven.

The mounting bracket may be bolted to the rear axle only when dimension -a- between the centre of wheel hub and lower edge of wheel housing, measured before starting the work, has been attained.
Otherwise, the bush would be strained and its service life shortened.
–  Turn wheel hub until a wheel bolt hole is uppermost.
–  Attach support -T10149- with a wheel bolt.
–  Raise wheel bearing housing, using engine and gearbox jack, until dimension -a- is attained.
  WARNING
t  Do not raise or lower vehicle when engine and gearbox jack is under the vehicle.
t  Do not leave the engine and gearbox jack under the vehicle longer than required.
–  Bolt mounting bracket to rear axle with specified torque.
Further installation is performed in reverse sequence.
After installation, check position of steering wheel during road test.
If the steering wheel is off centre, wheel alignment must be checked and adjusted.
