  Note
t  By disconnecting the battery earth wire (open circuit), safety is ensured when carrying out work on the electrical system.
t  The battery positive wire need only be disconnected for removal of the battery → Chapter.
t  The battery earth wire should not be detached from the vehicle body.
–  Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers.
   
–  Open the heat shield jacket if fitted -arrow-.
  Note
The illustration shows the battery of a vehicle with clipped-on fuse holder -3-. The batteries of vehicles with bolted-on fuse holder are disconnected in the same way.
–  Undo securing nut -2- and disconnect negative terminal clamp from battery.

–  Undo securing nut -1- and disconnect positive terminal clamp from battery.
