  Note
t  After working on the exhaust system, ensure that the system is not under stress and that there is sufficient clearance to the bodywork.
t  If necessary, loosen double and single clamps and align silencers and exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded → Chapter.
t  Removing and installing exhaust manifold with turbocharger → Chapter.
t  The decoupling element in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10° - otherwise it can be damaged.
t  Renew seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts.
  Note
t  EU3 vehicles have a catalytic converter instead of a particulate filter.
t  The following components are not installed on EU3 vehicles.
t  Pressure differential sender -G 505- → Item
t  Exhaust temperature sender 3 -G 495- → Item
t  Exhaust temperature sender 4 -G 648- → Item
t  Lambda probe -G 39- → Item
t  Bracket → Item
   
1 - Catalytic converter
2 - Gasket
q   Renew
q   Note installation position.
3 - Clip
q   7 Nm
4 - Mounting
5 - 25 Nm
6 - Bracket
q   Renew
q   Particulate filter bracket with riveted studs → Electronic parts catalogue.
q   This is the only way to apply the necessary tightening torque.
7 - 25 Nm

The decoupling element in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10° - otherwise it can be damaged.
   
If the catalytic converter is to be re-installed, a transportation lock -T10404--arrow- must always be secured to the flexible joint in front exhaust pipe.
