Separating new conrod
On new conrods it is possible that the breaking point is not fully separated. Proceed as follows if the conrod bearing cap cannot be removed by hand:
–
Mark allocation of conrod to cylinder.

Lightly clamp conrod in vice using protective aluminium jaws, as shown in figure.

Only clamp the conrod lightly in order to avoid damaging it.

Conrod is clamped below the dashed line.
–
Unscrew both bolts
-arrows-
about 5 turns.
–
Using a plastic hammer, carefully knock against conrod bearing cap in
-direction of arrow-
until it is loose.
