–  Press track rods off steering arm.
A - Track rod ball joint puller (commercial type) e.g. -Kukko 128/2-.
–  To loosen/remove clamp joint of jointed shaft/steering box; unbolt bulkhead plate in bulkhead behind pedals and take off of column tube.

–  Loosen hexagon nut -arrow- on jointed shaft.
–  Extract hydraulic fluid from reservoir using oil extractor -V.A.G 1358 A- or -V.A.G 1307 A-.
If an oil extractor is not available, disconnect suction hose at vane pump and drain hydraulic oil.

–  Support engine/gearbox assembly with support bracket -10-222/A- and frame -10-222A/1- (VR 6 engine; support with -10-222/A- and -10-222A/3-).
–  Remove bellows from seat on steering box.
–  Remove bolts for power steering box.
–  Lower engine/gearbox assembly. Pull both halves of jointed shaft apart when doing this.
–  Disconnect hoses from steering box and seal with plastic bag and adhesive tape.
–  Seal power steering box threaded holes with plastic sealing plugs. Instead of plastic sealing plugs a plug consisting of part no. 113 301 229  A and banjo bolt part no. N 904 674 01 can be used. But when using these, several 16 mm Ø sealing rings must be used so that the holes in the banjo bolt are sealed.
–  Remove nuts for steering box (bolts remain in subframe).
–  Take out steering box towards the rear.
