Special tools, testers and auxiliary items

  • ◆ Ring nut spanner 3217
  • ◆ Torque wrench V.A.G 1332 (40...200 Nm)

Removing

  • ‒ First check whether a coded radio is fitted. If this is the case obtain the anti-theft coding.
  • ‒ Note safety precautions before starting work
  • ‒ With ignition switched off disconnect battery earth strap.
  • ‒ Fold rear seat forwards.
  • ‒ Remove cover in luggage boot floor.
 
N20-0046
  • ‒ → Pull connector -1- and supply and return pipes -2, 3- off flange.
  • ‒ Remove union nut from flange with 3217.
  • ‒ Pull flange and seal out of the opening in fuel tank.
  • ‒ Release delivery unit from bayonet connection by turning to left and remove from fuel tank.

Note:

If the delivery unit is to be renewed then drain old delivery unit before disposal.

Installing

  • ‒ Installing the fuel delivery unit is carried out in the reverse order.

Notes:

  • ◆ Coat flange seal with fuel when fitting.
  • ◆ When inserting the fuel delivery unit ensure that the fuel gauge sender is not bent.
  • ◆ When the fuel delivery unit is correctly installed the fuel gauge sender float points to fuel filler pipes.
  • ◆ Fitting position of fuel delivery unit flange => Page 20-7 , Fig. 1 .
