Shift Interlock Solenoid: Service and Repair
REPLACEMENT OF SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID, 740, 940/940SE, 960
Disconnect:
-
control rod from selector lever extension arm reaction arm
-
connector on cars with AW 70/71
(940SE/960 only)
Remove:
-
Left side underdash panel.
-
Work loose from other attachments.
-
Work out right hand soundproofing from propeller shaft tunnel.
-
Front mounting screws on right and left-hand sides of center console.
-
Before proceeding, tape gear selector lever with masking tape, otherwise it may become scored as housing is removed.
-
Ashtray
-
Screws in frame around gear selector lever and handbrake
-
Center console retaining screws
-
Withdraw console backwards.
-
Frame around gear selector lever and handbrake. Disconnect connector(s) at gear selector. (One connector on 940SE/960; more than one on 740
and 940.)
