Remove the brake pads and shims.
Use puller 999 2917 EXTRACTOR See: Tools and Equipment/999 2917 Extractor if the brake pads will not come out easily.
Cleaning and inspection
Clean the brake pad contact surfaces in brake caliper.
Check the piston dirt guard.
If the dirt guard looks worn, replace it as a precautionary measure.
If the dirt guard is damaged, overhaul the brake caliper. Brake caliper rear, overhaul See: Overhaul/Brake Caliper Rear, Overhaul.
