Flush oil cooler using Dexron IIE/Ford Mercon ATF oil.
Fit a hose to the top connection on the cooler.
Place a collection vessel under the return hose. Flush with Dexron IIE/Ford Mercon ATF oil.
Checking the carrier plate
Check that the carrier plate is not damaged or cracked
Check:

that the contact faces for the transmission on the engine are clean and that the guide bushings are free from defect and in position.

that the bushing for the torque converter in the crankshaft is free from defects.
