Turn again at the limit position to pressure level 2 on the manometer. Read off the torque.

Repeat the procedure turning the steering wheel to the left.

Note! Do not hold the steering wheel at the limit position or for each pressure level for longer than 5 seconds.

Pressure level and torque

Standard steering gear:

-

Level 1 pressure 4 Mpa torque interval 2.5-5.5 Nm

-

Level 2 pressure 8 Mpa torque interval 3.0-6.0 Nm

Speed dependent steering gear:

-

Level 1 pressure 4 Mpa torque interval 1.5-4.5 Nm

-

Level 2 pressure 8 Mpa torque interval 2.0-5.0 Nm

Note! If the torque deviation is greater than 0.7 Nm to reach the same pressure the steering gear must be replaced. This applies to both with and

without speed dependant steering gear.

Finishing

-

Disconnect the battery negative lead.

-

Remove the test devices 951 1506 and 9511506 version B.

-

Install the airbag.

-

Disconnect the test instrument.

-

Install lock grip pliers on the oil pump return hose.

Note! Place paper over the generator (GEN) as protection against oil.

Disconnect the test instrument and the nipples.

-

Connect the delivery line to the pump.

-

Tighten the nut or screw for the delivery line to 25 Nm. Use a new O-ring.

Remove:

-

lock grip pliers

-

the paper over the generator (GEN).

-

Install the coolant hose for the control module.

-

Check the oil level in the reservoir.

-

Use Volvo power steering fluid, P/N 1161529-1 to ensure the correct oil quality.

-

Start the engine.

-

Check for leakage.
