The braking system can be divided into the following main sections:

• Wheel brakes
• Hydraulic braking system
• Parking brake system
• ABS, EBD and TRACS

Some components are located in different positions in the engine compartment, depending on whether the car is LH or RH drive.

These main sections consist in turn of the following main components:

Wheel brakes

• Front brake calipers and pads (1)
• Front brake discs (2)
• Rear brake calipers and pads (3)
• Rear brake discs (4)

Hydraulic braking system (5)

• Brake fluid reservoir and level sensor (5)
• Master cylinder (6)
• Air hydraulic brake power assist unit (brake servo)(7)
• Brake pedal and brake light switch (8)
• Brake hoses (9)
• Brake circuit warning light (10)

Parking brake system

• Parking brake lever (12)
• Brake cables (13)
• Brake shoes (14)
• Parking brake warning light (15)

ABS, EBD and TRACS

• Control module for ABS, EBD and TRACS
• ABS warning light (20)
• TRACS warning light (cars with TRACS only) (21)
