Lubricate the lower section of the push rod and spring with grease 1161417-9. 
Install the spring and push rod (4).
Press down the push rod. Insert the pawl (1) in the gear selector. 
Lubricate the pawl segment with grease 1161417-9.

Install

the center console according to Rear center console

the gear selector knob according to Replacing gear selector knob.

Removal 
Removing center consoles 
-

Remove the lamp holder from the lighting strip

-

Disconnect the connector from the winter mode switch

-

Remove the gear selector knob.

Removing gear selector assembly 

Certain models have a keylock cable and a shiftlock solenoid. 
Remove the keylock cable. 
Remove the shiftlock solenoid and micro-switch.
Disconnect the transmission cable from the gear selector assembly.
Use flat-nosed pliers to remove the cable pin. 

Remove 
-

the 4 screws for the gear selector assembly 

-

the clips for the cable harness (from the reverse). Disconnect the connectors 

-

the gear selector assembly. 

Caution:  Take care not to bent the transmission cable.

Installation 
Installing gear selector assembly and transmission cable 
Certain models have a keylock and a shiftlock solenoid.
Install the keylock cable.
Installing the shiftlock solenoid and micro-switch.
