The return spring does not need to be replaced for this symptom. The new one included in the kit can be discarded.

The over-center spring comes pre-greased. Try to leave as much of the grease in place as possible when installing it.

SERVICE:

1.

Remove the panel from behind the center stack using a weatherstrip tool (9814071).

2.

Remove the cover from the left end of the dashboard.

3.

Remove the three screws from the panel beneath the steering column.
