Remove the passenger compartment temperature sensor from the panel by pushing it forward.

Pull the panel down and out. Unplug the courtesy light.

The over-center spring is now visible. 

The left lug is in a groove (1). 

The right lug is in a seat which opens upwards (2). 

The end of the spring contacts the clutch pedal arm (3).
