the cover at the rear edge of the exhaust camshaft

-

the mounting screws for the ignition coil and the screws for the two ground terminals

-

the connector from the variable valve timing solenoid.

Lift up and put the ignition coils and wiring to one side.

Note! Mark up the ignition coils before removal.

Remove the crankcase ventilation hose from the top of the camshaft cover.

Draining the fuel line

Drain the fuel line. See Fuel system pressure release See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair.

Removing the fuel rail

Remove

-

the injector covers

-

the connectors from the injectors. Place the wiring to one side.

Separate the fuel line quick-release connector. Also See Fuel line, lock See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Rail/Service
and Repair. Use tool 951 2666 Replaced by 9997298 See: Tools and Equipment/951 2666 Replaced By 9997298.
Remove the screws holding the fuel pipe and air distribution pipe to the intake manifold.
Carefully pull off the fuel pipe and the air distribution pipe as one.

Removing the intake manifold

Remove

-

all 5 vacuum hoses from the intake manifold. (see the illustration)

-

the screw holding the dip stick pipe to the intake manifold

-

the screw at the support bracket (under the intake manifold)

-

the starter motor. Place it to one side.

Disconnect the connector for the electronic throttle module.
