Drive gear in backrest, replace

Preparations

CAUTION!  Install the transport safety device for the SIPS Airbag. See Replacing Seat Assembly  See: Service and Repair/Replacing Seat
Without Seat Heater/Replacing Seat Assembly

Removing

Make a note of radio code if anti-theft coded radio is installed.

Remove:

-

Battery negative lead.

-

Seat from car.  See: Service and Repair/Replacing Seat Without Seat Heater/Replacing Seat Assembly

Backrest upholstery.  

-

Impact protection.

-

Remove the circlips, one on each side of the drive gear housing, on the transverse shaft A.

Pull/tap out the shaft (A) from the drive gear housing.

-

Remove the tube protection

-

Screw (B) from drive gear housing.

-

Drive gear housing (C).

-

Remove the four screws.

-

Open the drive gear housing.

-

Remove the cables.

-

Replace drive gear. Fill drive gear housing with grease, P/N no. 116 1241-3.

Installing

Install in reverse order.
