Seal, drive shaft, replacing

Special tools:

Preparations

See and Half shaft, left, replacing See: Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and Repair/Drive Shaft Left, Replacing 

Remove the drive shaft seal

Use puller 999 5731 PULLER See: Tools and Equipment/999 5731 Puller.
Unscrew the puller. Install a hook gradually between the shaft and sealing ring.
Secure the hooks to the puller. Tighten them using the screws.
Install the mounting bracket and the nut.
Extract the sealing ring.

Install the drive shaft seal

Note! Clean thoroughly before installing the new seal

Apply a small amount of grease to the sealing lip.
Use drift 999 5730 Drift See: Tools and Equipment/999 5730 Drift and shaft 999 1801 STANDARD SHAFT See: Tools and Equipment/999 1801
Standard Shaft.
Carefully tap the drive shaft seal in until the drift is in contact with the transmission housing.
