  • ◆ Engine/gearbox lifter V.A.G 1383 A

Removing

  • ‒ Remove rear wheel.
  • ‒ → Screw out bolt -1-.
  • ‒ Pull speed sensor out of trailing arm.
 
N42-0337
  • ‒ → Partially unfasten wheel housing trim.
  • ‒ Use engine/gearbox lifter V.A.G 1383 A and universal mount V.A.G 1359/2 to raise trailing arm slightly.
Attention:
Do not raise vehicle further than necessary to prevent it falling off lifting platform.

  • ‒ → Screw out upper shock absorber bolt -arrow-.
 
N42-0339
  • ‒ → Screw out lower shock absorber bolt -arrow-.
  • ‒ Take out shock absorber.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

  • ‒ Check that there is sufficient clearance between brake shield and brake disc.

Note:

→ If necessary, unscrew connecting link -arrow- from anti-roll bar. Lower damper bolt is then easier to fit.

    1)    Replace bolts and nuts

Bolted joints with bonded rubber bushes must be tightened when vehicle is standing on its wheels.
