Axle Beam: Service and Repair
Guide Bearing (Bushing) Replacement, Axle Installed

ALL VEHICLES

-

Install brake pedal support.

-

Disconnect brake lines from brackets on both sides.

-

Plug brake line connections using rubber caps from brake caliper bleeder screws.

VEHICLES WITH BRAKE PROPORTIONING VALVE

-

Disconnect brake proportioning valve from bearing mounting bracket.

-

Remove regulator spring mounting bolt from lever on brake proportioning valve.

-

Carefully press brake proportioning valve slightly toward center of vehicle.

-

Remove axle mounting bolts on both sides of bearing mount.

-

Press axle downward so special tool 3294 can be installed.

ALL VEHICLES

-

Install assembly device 3294 as shown.

-

Press guide bearing out of rear axle by turning tool spindle.

-

Remove assembly device 3294.
