Removal and Installation

General Equipment
Floor crane
Laminated card

Removal

  1. Remove the battery tray.
    For additional information, refer to: Battery Tray (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).

  1. Detach the coolant expansion tank and secure to one side.
    1. Remove the coolant expansion tank bolt.
    1. Unclip the coolant expansion tank.
    1. Detach the coolant expansion tank and secure to one side.

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
    1. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise.
    1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  1. Drain the cooling system.

  1. Remove the engine roll restrictor.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Disconnect the coolant hose.

  1. Detach the coolant hose.

  1. Using a suitable floor crane, support the engine.

  1. Detach the wiring harness and the clutch hydraulic fluid tube.

  1. Detach the transaxle left-hand support insulator.

  1. Detach the engine upper mount.

  1. Remove the engine upper mount.

  1. Remove the engine lower mount.

  1. Remove the timing belt right-hand cover.

  1. Remove the timing belt left-hand cover.

  1. Remove the coolant pump pulley.

  1. Fabricate a piece of laminated card.
    • Fold the laminated card in two along its length.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:The fabricated piece of laminated card must be positioned on the timing belt before the coolant pump upper retaining bolt is removed. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the timing belt.
  1. Install the fabricated piece of laminated card between the timing belt and the coolant pump upper retaining bolt.
    • Using the fabricated piece of laminated card to protect the timining belt, remove the coolant pump upper retaining bolt.

  1. Remove the coolant pump.

  1. Remove and discard the coolant pump gasket.

Installation
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the fabricated piece of laminated card is correctly positioned between the timing belt and coolant pump before installing the coolant pump upper retaining bolt.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new coolant pump gasket.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
