Remove the upper intake manifold.

| Vehicles with automatic transaxle | | -
Remove the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) actuator bolts. | | | -
Detach the cable bridge and position the IMRC actuator to one side. | All vehicles | | -
Disconnect the left-hand spark plug electrical connectors. | | | -
Detach the coolant hose from the bracket (if equipped). - Detach the bracket from the retaining stud.

Detach the wiring harness from the left-hand valve cover. | | | -
Remove the left-hand valve cover. - Remove the left-hand valve cover retaining bolts in the sequence shown.
| Installation All vehicles | | -
Clean the mating faces of the cylinder head and the left-hand valve cover with a clean lint free cloth. | | | -
Apply sealant to the mating faces of the cylinder head. | | | -
NOTE:Install a new gasket. Install the left-hand valve cover. - Tighten the valve cover retaining bolts in the sequence shown.

Attach the wiring harness to the left-hand valve cover. | | | -
Attach the coolant hose to the bracket (if equipped). - Attach the bracket to the retaining stud.

Connect the left-hand spark plug electrical connectors. | Vehicles with automatic transaxle | | -
Position the IMRC actuator and install the bridge. | | | -
Install the IMRC actuator bolts. | | | -
Install the upper intake manifold.
