Assembly

  1. Soak the internal spline clutch plates in clean automatic transmission fluid for 15 minutes before assembly.

  1. Using the special tool, install the new reverse clutch piston assembly with integral seals.

  1. Install the reverse clutch return spring assembly.

  1. WARNING:
WARNING:Use caution when releasing the tool pressure on the clutch piston return springs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    CAUTION:
CAUTION:Do not fully compress the reverse clutch return spring.
Install the reverse clutch retaining ring.
    • Using the special tool, compress the reverse clutch return spring.

  1. Install the reverse clutches.
    1. Install the steel plates.
    1. Install the friction plates.
    1. Install the pressure plate.

  1. NOTE:
NOTE:The retaining rings are available in various thicknesses.
Install the reverse clutch pressure plate retaining ring (selective fit).

  1. Measure the clearance between the reverse clutch pressure plate and the reverse clutch pressure plate retaining ring with a feeler gauge.
    • Repeat the measurement on the opposite side.
    • Average the two measurements to calculate the clearance.
    • If the clearance is not within the specifications, select and install the correct thickness retaining ring to obtain the specified clearance.
    • Retaining ring sizes:
      • 1. 1.39 - 1.49 mm

        2. 1.53 - 1.63 mm

        3. 1.68 - 1.78 mm
