Front Suspension - Front Stabilizer Bar Streetka 2003.5 (01/2003-07/2005)
Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Remove the front wheels and tires. For additional information, refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Protect the ball joint seal using a soft cloth to prevent damage.
    Detach the lower arm from the wheel knuckle on both sides.
    • Remove the lower arm ball joint heat shield.

  1. Detach the stabilizer bar.
    1. Remove the stabilizer bar to stabilizer bar link retaining nut on both sides.
    1. Remove the stabilizer bar mounting bracket retaining bolts on both sides.
Vehicles with 1.3L engine
  1. Remove the right-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assembly.

  1. Remove the left-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assembly.
Vehicles with 1.6L engine
  1. Remove the crossmember retaining bolts.

  1. Remove the right-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assembly.

  1. Remove the left-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assembly.
All vehicles
  1. Remove the stabilizer bar.

Installation

All vehicles
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the stabilizer bar to the left-hand and right-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assemblies retaining bolts at this stage.
    Attach the stabilizer bar to the left-hand and right-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assemblies.
  1. With the aid of another technician, locate the left-hand and right-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assemblies.
Vehicles with 1.6L engine
  1. Install the left-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assembly retaining bolts.

  1. Install the right-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assembly retaining bolts.

  1. Install the crossmember retaining bolts.
Vehicles with 1.3L engine
  1. Install the left-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assembly retaining bolts.

  1. Install the right-hand lower arm bracket and lower arm assembly retaining bolts.
All vehicles
  1. Install the stabilizer bar.
    • Tighten the stabilizer bar mounting bracket retaining bolts on both sides.
    • Install the stabilizer connecting link to stabilizer bar retaining nut on both sides.

  1. Attach the lower arm to the wheel knuckle on both sides.
    • Install the lower arm ball joint heat shield.
  1. Install the front wheels and tires.

  1. Check the toe setting and adjust as necessary. For additional information, refer to: (204-00 Suspension System - General Information)
