Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE:
NOTE:Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the batteries.
    Refer to: Battery (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the audio unit.
    Refer to: Audio Unit (415-01 Information and Entertainment System, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the left and right-hand A-pillar trim.
    Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the left and right-hand exterior mirrors.
    Refer to: Exterior Mirror (501-09 Rear View Mirrors, Removal and Installation).

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the road wheels are in the straight ahead position.

  1.  
    • Pull the footwell carpet to one side.
    • Torque: 12 Nm
  1. Raise the vehicle.
    Refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that new bolts are installed.
    • Detach the steering column shaft joint from the steering column shaft.
    • Torque: 28 Nm
Van

All Vehicles

  1.  
    • On both sides.

  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Remove the right- and left-hand headlamps.
    Refer to: Headlamp Assembly (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Removal and Installation).

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not loosen the bolts more than 2 turns.
    Torque: 8 Nm
Left-hand drive vehicles

Right-hand drive vehicles

All Vehicles

  1. Torque: 10 Nm

Vehicles with remote control for the audio unit

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Make sure that new self-locking nuts are installed.
    Torque: 20 Nm

  1. Remove front seat.
    Refer to: Front Seat (501-10 Seating, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the front bench seat.
    Refer to: Double Passenger Seat (501-10 Seating, Removal and Installation).

    1. Torque: 12 Nm
    1. Torque: 7 Nm

    1. Torque: 22 Nm
    1. Torque: 55 Nm

  1. Torque: 8 Nm

Installation

  1. To install reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Loosen the bolts four turns.
  1. Start the engine, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock.

  1. Torque: 12 Nm
  1. Adjust the parking brake cable.
