Interrogating and erasing fault memory
   
Readout on display:
–  Press 0 and 2 for the function “Interrogate fault memory” and confirm with Q.
 
Vehicle system test               HELP
Select function XX
The number of stored faults or “No fault recognised” appears in the display.
If one or several faults are stored:
The stored faults are displayed in sequence after pressing the button .
 
X faults detected!
Readout on display:
–  Select function 05“Erase fault memory” and confirm with Q.
  Note
The fault memory is not erased if the ignition is switched off during the functions of “Interrogating fault memory” and “Erasing fault memory”.

Readout on display:
–  Select function 06“End output” and confirm with Q key.
–  Rectify the faults displayed by referring to the fault table → Chapter and → Chapter.
–  Read out readiness code → Chapter. If the fault memory has been erased or if the continuous voltage supply from the engine control unit was interrupted, it is then necessary to re-generate the readiness code.
–  Once the fault has been corrected perform a test drive.
  Note
Pay attention to safety precautions for test drives → Chapter.
During the test drive the following operating conditions must be fulfilled:
t  The coolant temperature should rise beyond 80°C.
t  Once the temperature has been reached the following operating conditions must be reached a number of times:
   Idling speed
partial load
enrichment
full load
trailing throttle
t  In case of full load the speed should be increased beyond 3500 rpm.
–  Interrogate the fault memory on the engine control unit again.
If no fault is stored:
–  Select function 06“End output” and confirm with Q key.
 
Vehicle system test                 ->
Fault memory erased!
