Disassembling and assembling the power-assisted steering gear > < Summary of components of steering column
Hydraulic oil in a cold condition (for an engine temperature up to approx. 50°C)
Hydraulic oil in a cold condition (for an engine temperature up to approx. 50°C)
The oil level must be located:
   
between the bottom marking -arrow A- and the top marking -arrow B- of the oil dipstick TRW.
t  If the oil level is above marking -arrow B- drain off some oil.
t  If the oil level is below the lower marking -arrow A-, first check the hydraulic system for leaks → Chapter and then one can begin to top up the system with hydraulic oil. It is not enough to simply top up the oil.
t  Do not use drained hydraulic oil again.
–  Screw the screwed lid onto the engine pump aggregate reservoir.
  Note
t  If necessary install battery tray and battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
t  Then if necessary install air filter → Engine; Rep. gr.24 (petrol engines) or → Engine; Rep. gr.23 (diesel engines).
t  Pay attention to the measures after re-connecting the battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
If the battery was removed:
–  Performing self-diagnosis → Chapter.
If a fault is stored in the fault memory:
–  Remove fault.
–  Erase fault memory.
