Coolant Pipe, Remove and Install > < Engine, Check for Leaks, (CO Content in Cooling System)

Alternator Bracket (Coolant Flange), Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove engine cover.

Remove air filter housing, hot film mass air flow meter, engine vent hose and air intake hose - see illustration "Air duct X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL" and "Air duct Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003" or "Air duct Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR".

Remove ribbed V-belt from alternator drive pulley – see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install".

Detach upper coolant hose from alternator bracket – collect coolant.

Remove upper alternator fastening bolt (2). Loosen lower alternator fastening bolt – swing alternator aside towards rear.

Remove fastening bolts for alternator bracket (1) and detach alternator bracket from cylinder head.

Detach lower coolant hose.

  Clean

Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residues.

  Install

Attach lower coolant hose to alternator bracket.

Attach alternator bracket to cylinder head with new gasket – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.

Attach alternator to alternator bracket – tighten lower and upper fastening bolts – tightening torque 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft.

Attach upper coolant hose to alternator bracket.

Tension ribbed V-belt – see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install".

Install air filter housing, hot film mass air flow meter, engine vent hose and air intake hose - see illustration "Air duct X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL" and "Air duct Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003" or "Air duct Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR".

Install engine cover.

  Inspect

Charge cooling system – see operations "Cooling System, Charge and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
