Coolant Pump, Remove and Install > < Engine, Check for Leaks, (CO Content in Cooling System)

Thermostat/Thermostat Housing (Radiator), Remove and Install

  Remove

If necessary: remove air filter housing with hot film mass air flow meter and air intake hose - see illustration "Air duct X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL" and "Air duct Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003" or "Air duct Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR".

Remove lower engine compartment cover – see operation "Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install" in group "A".

Remove engine cover.

Release coolant hoses (2) from thermostat housing (1). Detach thermostat housing from cylinder head. Detach coolant hoses from thermostat housing.

  Install

Attach coolant hoses to thermostat housing.

Attach thermostat housing to cylinder head with new gasket – tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

  Install

Install engine cover.

Install lower engine compartment cover – see operation "Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install" in group "A".

If necessary: install air filter housing with hot film mass air flow meter and air intake hose - see illustration "Air duct X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL" and "Air duct Y 20 DTH up to MY 2003" or "Air duct Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR".

  Inspect

Charge cooling system – see operations "Cooling System, Charge and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
