Knock sensor, Remove and Install (X 14 XE, Z 14
XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG)
 Remove

Remove engine cover.
Detach wiring harness plug from intake air temperature sensor
and detach air intake manifold from upper part of air cleaner
housing as well as from throttle body.
Note: After
disconnecting wiring harness plug, tie an approx. 1 m long cord to
wiring harness plug for knock sensor and tie to suitable position
in engine compartment in order to ensure cable routing is correct
when installing knock sensor.
Remove
Disconnect wiring harness plug for knock sensor (1).
Draw wiring harness plug for knock sensor through downwards and
release attached cord.
Remove knock sensor (2) from cylinder block.

Caution
The recommended torque value for the knock sensor must be
observed, otherwise malfunctions can arise.
Install
Attach knock sensor to cylinder block – tightening torque
20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.
Tie cord to knock sensor wiring harness plug and draw wiring
harness plug through and upwards.
Connect wiring harness plug for knock sensor and fasten to plug
strip.
Attach air intake manifold to upper part of air cleaner housing
and throttle body.
Connect wiring harness plug to intake air temperature
sensor.
Attach engine cover.
