Replace trailer hitch - L08

  Remove

1.   Remove tail lights - both sides
•   Open service flap
•   Unscrew 2x wing nuts (1)
•   Disconnect wiring harness plug (2)

2.   Detach number plate
Object Number: 3446492 Size: DEFAULT

3.   Remove number plate (arrows) lights right and left
•   Unlock 2x brackets
•   Disconnect 2x wiring harness plug
4.   Loosen rear panelling
•   Unscrew 4x screws right (2) and left (1)
•   Unscrew 2x middle bolts (3)

5.   In vehicles with Parkpilot: Disconnect wiring harness plug (1)
Note:   Removal of both number plate lights is not required

Important:   Danger of damage! Unlock rear panelling carefully sideways from the guide rails. Pull rear panelling, side, upwards and outwards in the direction of the arrow in the area of the guide rails.
6.   Detach rear panelling (1)
Note:   2nd mechanic required!
•   Unclip rear panelling from right guide rail (2)
•   Unclip rear panelling from rear guide rail (3)
•   Unclip rear panelling from left guide rail (4)

7.   Detach trailer hitch socket
•   Unscrew 3x bolt (3)
•   Detach cable tie (1)
•   Detach wiring harness bracket (2)

8.   Detach trailer hitch
•   Unscrew 4x nuts (arrows)
•   Remove trailer hitch

9.   Remove load compartment carpet
•   Remove load compartment carpet (1)

10.   Remove trailer hitch ball head
•   Loosen fastening belt (1)
•   Remove ball head (2)

11.   Remove additional storage space under load compartment carpet
12.   Remove rear end inner panelling
•   Unclip 7x clip (1)

13.   Remove trailer hitch retaining plate
•   Unclip rear quarter panel inner panelling (1) in the area of the retaining plate
•   Unscrew 2x bolt
•   Unclip wiring harness plug, left side
•   Remove 2x retaining plates

  Install

14.   Install rear end inner panelling
•   Clip in 7x clips
15.   Install additional storage space under load compartment carpet
16.   Install trailer hitch ball head
•   Thread belt through eye
•   Insert ball
•   Tighten belt
17.   Install load compartment carpet
18.   Install trailer hitch
•   Insert trailer hitch
•   Tighten 4x nuts 45 Nm
19.   Install trailer hitch socket
•   Attach cable ties
•   Attach wiring harness bracket
•   Tighten 3x bolt
20.   Attach rear panelling
Note:   2nd mechanic required!
•   Lock 3x guides to upper rear left guide rail
•   Lock 2x guides to middle guide rail
•   Lock 3x guides to upper rear right guide rail
•   Clip in 4x rear panelling to outer left guide rail
•   Clip in 4x rear panelling to outer right guide rail
21.   Attach middle rear panelling
•   Tighten 2x bolts
22.   Install number plate lighting
•   Connect 2x wiring harness plugs
•   Insert 2x number plate lights
•   Lock 2x brackets
23.   Attach side rear panelling, left
•   Tighten 2x bolt 2.5 Nm
24.   Attach side rear panelling, right
•   Tighten 2x bolt 2.5 Nm
25.   Install left tail light
•   Connect wiring harness plug
•   Insert tail light in upper guide
•   Pull tailgate stop rubber through tail light openings
•   Tighten 2x nuts
•   Close left rear quarter panel inner panelling service flap
26.   Install right tail light
•   Connect wiring harness plug
•   Insert tail light in upper guide
•   Pull tailgate stop rubber through tail light openings
•   Tighten 2x nuts
•   Close right rear quarter panel inner panelling service flap
