Camshaft Replacement

Special Tools

EN-46781   Fixing Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the camshaft housing cover gasket. Refer to Camshaft Housing Cover Gasket Replacement .
2. Remove the vacuum pump. Refer to Vacuum Pump Removal .
3. Remove the fuel injection pump. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Removal .
4. Remove the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Removal .

5. Remove the exhaust cylinder head core hole plug (2) from the camshaft housing (1).
6. Remove the intake cylinder head core hole plug (3) from the camshaft housing (1).
7. Clean the threads from the cylinder head core hole plugs and the camshaft housing.

8. Mark (arrow) at the EN-46781   fixing tool (1).

Note:  EN-46781   fixing tool (1) must be installed in horizontal position.
9. Install the EN-46781   fixing tool (1) onto the exhaust side and intake side.

10. Remove the exhaust camshaft sprocket bolt (2).
11. Remove the exhaust camshaft sprocket (3).
12. Remove the EN-46781   fixing tool from the exhaust side.
13. Remove the exhaust camshaft (1).

14. Remove the intake camshaft sprocket bolt (1).
15. Remove the intake camshaft sprocket (2).
16. Remove the EN-46781   fixing tool from the intake side.
17. Remove the intake camshaft (3).

Installation Procedure

Note:  Clean the contact surfaces from camshaft , camshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket bolt.
 Coat camshaft bearing surfaces with engine oil.
1. Install the intake camshaft (3).
2. Install the EN-46781   fixing tool on the intake side.
3. Install the intake camshaft sprocket (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution .
4. Install the intake camshaft sprocket bolt (1) and tighten to 150 N·m (111 lb ft) .

Note:  Clean the contact surfaces from camshaft , camshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket bolt.
 Coat camshaft bearing surfaces with engine oil.
5. Install the exhaust camshaft (1).
6. Install the EN-46781   fixing tool on exhaust side.
7. Install the exhaust camshaft sprocket (3).
8. Install the exhaust camshaft sprocket bolt (2) and tighten to 150 N·m (111 lb ft) .
9. Remove the EN-46781   fixing tool from the exhaust side.

10. Install the exhaust cylinder head core hole plug (2) to the camshaft housing (1).
11. Install the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Installation .
12. Install the fuel injection pump. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Installation .
13. Install the vacuum pump. Refer to Vacuum Pump Installation .
14. Install the camshaft housing cover gasket. Refer to Camshaft Housing Cover Gasket Replacement .
