Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
3. If equipped remove engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
4. If equipped open the front compartment insulator service opening.
5. Place a drain pan under the oil drain plug.

6. Remove the oil pan drain plug (2) and the oil pan drain plug gasket (3).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution .

7. Install a NEW oil pan drain plug gasket (3) and the oil pan drain plug (2) and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft) after draining the engine oil.
8. Lower the vehicle.

9. Remove the air cleaner outlet front duct clamp (1) from the air mass sensor.
10. Remove the air cleaner outlet front duct clamp (3) from the air cleaner outlet rear duct.
11. Remove the air cleaner outlet front duct (2).

12. Remove the oil filter cap (1) from the oil filter housing (4).
13. Remove the oil filter cap seal (2).
14. Remove the oil filter (3) from the oil filter cap.

Installation Procedure

1. Install a NEW oil filter (3) to the oil filter cap (1).
2. Install a NEW oil filter to cap seal (2).
3. Install the oil filter cap (1) to the oil filter housing (4) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft) .

4. Install the air cleaner outlet front duct (2).
5. Install the air cleaner outlet front duct clamp (3) to the air cleaner outlet rear duct.
6. Install the air cleaner outlet front duct clamp (1) to the air mass sensor.
7. Fill the engine with engine oil. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications .
8. Raise the vehicle.
9. If equipped close the front compartment insulator service opening.
10. If equipped, install the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
11. Close the hood.
